The hardest part of an Eagle Project (or Venturing Summit Rank Project) is often finding a good project to do. Fortunately, there are numerous resources available to help you find a project that you’ll enjoy and that will make a difference in your community.
Before beginning, you should review the project guidelines listed in the workbook for your project. The Eagle Project and Summit Rank Project have slightly different requirements (particularly regarding the amount of leadership shown by the candidate), but they share many similar rules. Neither project requires a set minimum number of hours, and neither can be done to benefit Scouting America or its councils, districts, units, or properties. You can find the project workbooks here: Eagle Project Workbook or Venturing Summit Award Project Workbook.
Scout Life Magazine has released an Eagle Project Showcase featuring Eagle Projects from around the country to help you see the wide range of possibilities and get ideas about what to do for your project, and the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) also has an Eagle Project Idea Generator. Additionally, the Scouting magazine blog Aaron on Scouting has a great list of projects and resources for helping you find a great project.
Congratulations on making it this far! Good luck on your project!
